Clark County is developing Curtin Creek Community Park in 2023. The new park will include walking paths, wildlife viewing areas, picnic shelters, parking, benches, restrooms, sport courts, sports fields and an inclusive play area with nature play elements. The site offers a unique opportunity to provide recreational amenities to support the growing population and connect the community with the natural surroundings, including territorial views of forests, farmlands, wildlife, and views of both Mt. Hood and Mt. St. Helens. The adjacent Gaddis Wetlands Natural Area provides a great opportunity for wildlife viewing and interpretive elements.
This inclusive playground and nature play area will serve children that visit the play area based on their geographic proximity to the park, as well as children visiting the park to participate in or observe programmed recreational sporting activity on the sports fields. This grant request is specific to the purchase and installation of two pieces of inclusive play equipment to enhance the play area and provide inclusive play opportunities for children of all abilities to engage with their peers.
